After a little anticipation, our new Kodak Kodacolor and Ektacolor films are finally here and ready to shoot.

Freshly shipped in from the USA, these new stocks are available in both 35mm and 120 formats, giving film photographers even more options for everyday shooting, portraits, travel, and creative projects.

Our brand ambassadors are currently putting them to the test so we can share some sample images, and first thoughts with you on these new film stocks very soon!

Kodak Ektacolor PRO and Kodacolor Film Range

Designed to deliver that classic Kodak colour palette, the Kodacolor and Ektacolor range offers a perfect balance of rich tones, fine detail, and versatility. Whether you’re capturing golden hour portraits, documenting daily life, or loading up a medium format camera for your next trip, these films are built to handle it all.

The 35mm rolls are ideal for point-and-shoots, SLRs, and compact film cameras, while the 120 versions give medium format shooters the opportunity to enjoy even more detail and depth in every frame.

Is Ektacolor Pro Just Kodak Portra?

Some photographers have wondered wether the new Ektacolor Pro is simply Portra under a different name. We haven’t had the chance to test Ektacolor Pro ourselves yet, but based on the information currently available online here’s what we understand.

Both films are manufactured by Eastman Kodak in Rochester, USA. However, Ektacolor Pro for the UK market appears to be only available through direct purchase from Eastman Kodak in the USA whereas Portra – also produced by Eastman Kodak- is distributed in the UK by Kodak Alaris.

So are they the same film packaged differently? It’s certainly possible, but without an official data sheet for Ektacolor Pro to compare directly with Portra, we can only make an educated guess at this stage.

We’re excited to finally have these films available and can’t wait to see what everyone creates with them. Stock is available now, so if you’ve been waiting to try them, now’s the perfect opportunity.

We can’t wait to share sample photos and first impressions with you soon. Already tried it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
