It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve done it, there’s nothing more exciting than the wait between sending your film off for processing and getting the shots back. But, if it’s your first time sending your film in, you might be wondering how long the process takes.
Whilst all film labs vary, at Film Processing we really pride ourselves on our quick turnaround time so there is no unnecessary waits to see your muchly anticipated photos.
Here’s everything you need to know about the process at Film Processing, and how long it takes to get your pictures back.
How Long Does It Take To Process Film?
The length of time it takes to process film does depend on the type of film you are getting processed.
All of these timeframes are based on the day that we receive the film from you. Sending your film back to us with first class delivery will enable you to get your pictures back quicker than if you opt for second class delivery.
Take a look below at how long it takes to process film for the various types of film below.
C41 Colour 35mm Film Processing
In the majority of instances, we are able to process and dispatch C41 colour 35mm films on the same day.
However, for formats such as 110 and 126, the processing time might extend by a few days due to their specific requirements.
Black and White, and ECN-2 Film Processing
For our black & white and ECN-2 films, we adopt a batching approach to ensure the highest quality.
Given that these are processed manually, we typically allocate 7 to 10 days for processing.
Please note that if you choose to have Prints/Negatives back, please be aware that we will hold your Colour Prints/Negs back until your Black and White is also ready to be sent off. So it all gets to you in one big bundle!
This does not affect our current Dropbox turnaround times.
Souped Film Processing
When it comes to souped film, we evaluate each case individually, particularly focusing on whether the film needs drying prior to processing.
Generally, the estimated time frame for these is around 10 to 14 days, depending on the specific needs of the film.
